Kristy has spent her career advocating for mental health and expanding access to quality care—both in Iowa and across the country.
She has served in multiple leadership roles with the Iowa Mental Health Counselors Association (IMHCA), including President Elect, President, and Past President (2011–2016). During her leadership, IMHCA received several national awards, including a State Chapter Development Grant, AMHCA Outstanding Membership Growth Award, and AMHCA Outstanding State Chapter Award.
Her dedication to the profession extended to the national level when she was elected Midwest Regional Director for the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA) from 2016–2018, overseeing nine active state chapters.
Kristy’s contributions to both IMHCA and AMHCA reflect her commitment to strengthening the counseling profession and advocating for mental health. Today, she brings that same passion and expertise to her private practice, Brown Therapy Services, LLC, in Johnston, Iowa—where she helps clients heal, grow, and thrive.
