IMHCA Service Award for 2019

Kristy has dedicated years to furthering the impact of mental health, not only in the state of Iowa, but nationally as well.

She volunteered her time with the Iowa Mental Health Counselors Association (IMHCA) as President Elect, President, and Past President of IMHCA from 2011-2016.  During this time, IMHCA received multiple awards from the national association including a state chapter development grant, AMHCA outstanding membership growth as a state chapter, and AMHCA outstanding state chapter award.

In 2016, she was nominated and elected to the national board, American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA), to serve as the Midwest Regional Director from 2016-2018 where she oversaw a region of 9 active states.  

Her volunteer time on the IMHCA and AMHCA boards is much appreciated. Kristy continues to advocate for mental health and owns her own private practice, Brown Therapy Services, LLC in Johnston, IA.
