I graduated from Buena Vista University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and Human Services. While earning my Bachelors Degree, I worked at an Emergency Services Shelter, which provided short term care for youth requiring out of home treatment, as well as respite care.  While completing my Master’s Degree at the University of Northern Iowa, I worked at a residential treatment facility as milieu staff/therapist.  I did a semester long internship at the counseling center on UNI campus and a year long internship in Des Moines, IA prior to graduation. 

I have a history of working in a variety of settings with children, adolescents, and adults.  I have worked in transitional housing and clinical services for parenting women with addiction, Psychiatric Medical Institute for Children, school-based therapy, and as a Behavioral Health Specialist Care Manager.  

With this experience, I have earned the following licensures/certifications: I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), AMHCA Diplomate and Clinical Mental Health Specialist in Trauma (DCMHS-T), Certified Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT), EMDR therapist, trained in Discovery Work and as a Disaster Mental Health Volunteer.
